History



The company was founded in 1992 with the original objective of recycling organic solvents generated by dry cleaning industry. Both, product scope and industry scope were soon expanded and within the following years, the company was providing comprehensive package of waste management services, industrial cleaning and decontamination services, and it was supplying environmental technologies, and chemical products for a wide range of industries. This diversification lead to the creating of the three separate businesses in 1996: LAMES Ltd, specialised in manufacturing customised technologies for environmentally friendly cleaning of metal surfaces, CENTRALCHEM Ltd trading with chemical products and DETOX Ltd, focusing on waste management and related environmental services.

DETOX has since become a respected waste management provider, recognised mainly for its technical expertise in hazardous waste handling, and superior quality of customer service. The company has built its core competences around the four main product lines:

  • (1) waste oil recycling,
  • (2) organic solvents regeneration,
  • (3) chemical waste treatment,
  • (4) liquid waste treatment

 
In 1999, DETOX launched its first storage and treatment facility in Banska Bystrica, with the capacity of 15,000 tons a year.

In 2001, the Company was awarded ISO 14001 Certification as the first Slovak WM company. A year later, the second processing facility in Rimavska Sobota was open.

The Company further expanded geographically to the capital city region where it opened a transfer station in 2003. Unfortunately, the transfer station was completely destroyed due to the fire in July 2006. By the end of 2008, the Company fulfilled all the requirements set by the authorities concerning debris removal, site cleaning and it carried out extensive hydro-geological investigation of the land underground waters in order to identify any environmental pollution.
